DECA and Skills USA conferences are targeted, highly-focused learning experiences for students in the field of business and industry. These conferences bring student members into the business industry while providing unique opportunities to extend classroom learning.
The Hawaii State CTSO Convention connects with corporate professionals to engage students in learning industry-related trends and content. Waiakea High DECA and Skills USA students competed in various competency and performance-based events/exams in marketing, retail merchandising, cabinet making, applied technical math, prepared speech, and digital media.

• Kira Baird, Business Services Marketing, overall third place trophy, first place written exam, finalist and role play medal

Skills USA Results:
• Kevin-Jay Ishikawa, Cabinet Making, first place
• Thomas Lee, Prepared Speech, third place
• Junhao Li, Applied Technical Math, first place
• Jake Ebesugawa, Applied Technical Math, second place
Jamie, Kira, Kevin-Jay and Junhao along with students statewide will have the opportunity to represent Hawaii’s Delegation at the DECA International Career Development Conference in April in Orlando, Fla., and the Skills USA National Conference in Louisville, Ky. in June.
